My little girl

She's getting big. She turns six next week. I know that doesn't seem that old, but I already miss the cute little-girl things she used to say and do.

She used to have a lisp, couldn't pronounce the letter s when it was followed by another consonant. So the word "lisp" for instance, would have been pronounced "lip". She used to talk to us about the tars in the ky, the people walking down the treet, bee tings, tiger tripes, and melling flowers. I won't even bring up the times she wanted to play with her scooter. (hilarious)

When we startled her she'd say "You cared me out of my crap!"

She used to carry around her little kitty blanket and suck her thumb...

I miss that. I wish I hadn't had to work so much and miss out on so much.

To get a dog

While I was at work, my daughter told my wife that we were going to go get a dog tomorrow.

Naturally, mommy said 'no' to this. We have two cats and we aren't getting anything else until these cats die off.

Apparently my daughter understands what needs to happen in order for us to get a dog.

To the response of 'no' from mom, my darling little girl said: "Yes. Tomorrow we are going to get a dog. Tomorrow is the day that Precious and Lady die."

"Precious and Lady aren't going to die tomorrow, honey," my wife said. "What makes you think that?"

"Because," she said in her youthful innocense, "I'm going to kill them with a knife."

...

...

...

I hope there are no plans for what the family can get when daddy dies.

My Daughter is Brilliant

This morning, she said a sentence with 15 words in it. She's only four years old. Most adults I know can't pull off a ten word sentence, let alone fifteen.

It went like this; I took the phone from her so she would stop playing with it and she said 'You better give me back that phone or I am seriously going to kill you.'

How awesome is that?

Friends

As I was leading my daughter to the car the other day(she's four), her little hand in mine, she cautioned me about crossing the road. "There's a motorcycle!"

She doesn't like motorcycles because they are loud and scare her.

We watched the motorcycle go past and I recognized the guy riding it as someone I went to school with.

When the bike was at the end of the street, Josie looked up at me in those big, curious eyes of hers and asked "Was he going to run us over?"

"No honey," I responded.

"How do you know?" She asked.

"I know him. His name is Tony." I told her.

"Oh, he's your friend?" She asked.

"No. I just know him." I explained.

"But you know his name..." She reasoned.

At first I thought "Aw, she's so cute." But really, shouldn't it be that simple?
